The Los Angeles Rams shocked the NFL world on Wednesday when they traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie.
The team showed that they are once again all in, similar to their approach in 2021 when they were crowned Super Bowl champions. After falling short this past season in the NFC Championship game, the Rams are set to do whatever it takes to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2026.
L.A. had two first-round picks in this year's draft, but that changed when they traded one of their two picks for McDuffie. Now, L.A. only holds the No. 13 overall pick, which they acquired last season in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons.
In the latest mock draft from Nate Davis of USA Today, the Rams are projected to select Denzel Boston, a wide receiver out of the Washington Huskies.
"Obviously zero need now to reach for a corner here with McDuffie inbound. LA had the league’s No. 1 passing game in 2025 – in large part due to Puka Nacua’s heroics. But Davante Adams, 33, was the only other productive wideout and battled injuries late in the season and is only under contract for one more year. Boston (6-4, 212) is the kind of supersized red-zone target (20 TD catches since 2024) and boundary receiver who could provide an easy transition from Adams while perfectly complementing Nacua."
The Rams' need at cornerback has eased slightly. While the position could still use reinforcements through free agency or the draft, selecting one with their first pick in April may no longer be as pressing as it once seemed.
Because of that, L.A. could pivot toward adding another pass catcher, and Boston could fit that role well.
The 22-year-old stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 209 pounds, giving him an ideal frame for an outside receiver. Boston is known for his strong hands, elite contested-catch ability and polished route running. He uses his size and long strides to create advantages on the boundary and is especially effective in red-zone and deep-ball situations.
NFL analyst Lance Zierlein compared Boston to L.A.'s star wide receiver Puka Nacua.
"Two-year starter with elite ball skills that should supersede athletic/speed limitations. A Puka Nacua comparison might feel strong, but like Nacua, Boston enters the draft with speed/separation concerns and outstanding competitive toughness. Boston gets off the line with good burst and maintains his top speed throughout the route. He could have issues beating press, but releases can also be schemed. He’s very skilled when it comes to winning jump balls and contested throws. Boston also knows how to win in the red zone. Acclimating to NFL competition could take a year, but Boston has the makeup to become a productive possession target with above-average red-zone value."
Boston finished the 2025 season with 62 receptions, 881 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
