Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett will be out for at least four games, as he undergoes surgery on his battered knee.

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett is set for surgery to deal with the nagging knee injury that has plagued him throughout training camp and into the start of the regular season.

Per multiple reports, the procedure will be for arthroscopic surgery related to the knee ailment that he has been dealing with for months.

While Garrett could return after four games, he might also have to miss more based on how the recovery from the surgical procedure goes.

Back when the Rams traded for Garrett in June, he had arrived at the team with the knee already in a tough spot. When training camp began, the defender simply chalked it up to being old and being banged up.

Despite the initial downplaying of the injury, things did not appear to get better, as Garrett missed a great deal of practice leading up to the start of the regular season. Oddly enough, he did return to practice last Sunday and practiced through the whole week leading up to the bout with the San Francisco 49ers.

During the game, Garrett was seldom seen on the field. He appeared to look tired and was subbed out plenty. It was believed that he was dealing with a bit of exhaustion related to not having practiced much for months, but his knee clearly has been affecting him.

The Rams defensive end would end his day with no tackles and no sacks. Despite the underwhelming performance, it was not believed that his knee was this much of an issue.

Garrett will now undergo surgery to correct his knee issue and will be out for at least four games. He could be out for longer but being on IR (injured reserve) stipulates that he must be out for at least four regular season games.

Considering Garrett secured the single season sack record with 23 in 2025, he is unlikely to get close to that figure by missing the next four games.

The silver lining for the Rams is that Aaron Donald is also close to returning. Considering his two-year layoff from football action, head coach Sean McVay and Donald decided to delay his return so that he can get into game shape.

With Garrett now out, Donald will come in as the premiere pass rusher for the defense. While the NFL world was waiting to see what the pair could do together, that will have to wait until Garrett is fully healed.
