The Los Angeles Rams are named winners of the 2026 offseason due to their impressive roster additions.
The Los Angeles Rams had a strong offseason, bringing in multiple players that should have an immediate impact.
They have rebuilt their secondary, adding All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, Super Bowl champion cornerback Jaylen Watson, and arguably the best defensive player in the league, two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
It’s been one of the strongest offseasons for the Rams, which is why they were named one of the winners of the offseason. Mike Jones of The Athletic mentioned their aggressive approach and their way of balancing the present and future as reasons for winning the offseason.
"General manager Les Snead made the biggest splash of the offseason when he traded for Myles Garrett, the reigning defensive player of the year. That acquisition, coupled with the additions of Chiefs cornerbacks Trent McDuffie in another trade and Jaylen Watson in free agency, could put defensive coordinator Chris Shula’s unit over the top. With a defense like that, Sean McVay’s potent offense could further torment opponents, and the Rams could win another Super Bowl in their stadium this winter.
"Additionally, Snead raised eyebrows by drafting quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round, but picking Matthew Stafford’s understudy now could position Los Angeles for a smoother transition down the line while giving the Alabama product adequate time to develop before taking the field. The Rams have fortified themselves for both the short and long term."
The Rams have done a lot more right than wrong this offseason. The only question mark this offseason was the Ty Simpson addition. Yes, the Rams believe he could be their quarterback of the future after Matthew Stafford retires; however, the when of that is unclear.
Stafford acknowledged that he could play for another handful of years if he wanted, but wants to take the year-to-year approach because he thinks it's fair for the team. In addition, the 38-year-old admitted he feels great as the 2026 season slowly approaches.
That’s the only head scratcher that the Rams have experienced this offseason, and even so, when all is said and done with Simpson, it could be a move that pays dividends for the Rams.
Outside of that, the team has mimicked the 2021 season, which led to a Super Bowl victory. A lot still has to go right to make it out of the playoffs and into the big show, but Los Angeles has made the kind of moves that may lead to just that.
The defensive additions have been great, and the offense is poised for yet another stellar season. Stafford and Sean McVay will lead the charge in that department, followed by their top receiving duo of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, star running back Kyren Williams, and a solid offensive line that is expected to keep their veteran quarterback upright.
The Rams addressed several key areas of need this offseason, turning former weaknesses into strengths. After finishing just one win shy of representing the NFC in the Super Bowl last season, Los Angeles entered the offseason with a clear objective.
This time around, the Rams have done everything possible to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of yet another Super Bowl title.
