The Los Angeles Rams were hit with an unknown injury, as wide receiver Puka Nacua exited practice early.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua suffered an apparent injury and was pulled from the joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys early.
Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated that he does not know what transpired and has no updates on the matter. All that is known is that Nacua walked off with team trainer Reggie Scott.
Additionally, Los Angeles was also without defensive end Myles Garrett, who is still recovering from a knee injury. Garrett reportedly said he is around 85 percent healthy, and the decision to pull him was simply to ensure he did not suffer any setbacks.
Garrett has been a bit up and down in terms of being able to practice since arriving in Los Angeles, and the defensive end stated last week that he "felt good." He also joked that he is "old" and is allowed to be sore.
That sorness has apparently turned into a bit of swelling to Garrett's knee, leaving him to sit out of the joint practice with the Cowboys.
McVay did not indicate whether starters were set to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Aug. 15, but it would be believed that many established players may not be expected to suit up considering the head coach's usual history of resting veterans as much as possible.
Even if Garrett was healthy enough to participate in the Cowboys' joint practice, he was unlikely to play against the Chiefs. The same can be said for Nacua.
Nacua may also not have suffered anything super significant, but being walked off the field by trainers is never a good sign. He may have simply tweaked something, and the Rams will now determine what transpired or what he hurt.
The Rams are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 NFL season opener, with both teams traveling to Australia in the league's first game in the country. Though that matchup is weeks away, Los Angeles having to lose Nacua due to injury would be tough to deal with.
There are still some solid options at wide receiver in case Nacua cannot make it, as Davante Adams leads the group. Xavier Smith and Konata Mumpfield are also on the rise, and rookie CJ Daniels has made plenty of noise in training camp.
Still, losing Nacua for an international game and against a strong divisional opponent will be rough for the Rams. Again, nothing has been made known regarding his apparent injury, and it could be something minor.
