Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is dealing with a complicated injury, though it is not expected to be long-term.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has been dealing with an injury of some sort throughout training camp and into the regular season. Initially, he suffered a psoas (groin) injury that sidelined him for multiple weeks.

Now, that has turned into a hip injury of some sort. Rams head coach Sean McVay offered some new details on the injury, revealing that it is not expected to be long-term but that it is complicated.

Nacua was one of the bright spots during Week 1, as he turned five receptions into 74 yards. In what was a wholly disappointing performance from the team in general, the receiver was able to show that he has not skipped a beat.

That has since been derailed, as the Rams receiver has been dealing with his lower-body injury that has been lingering.

When speaking to the media on Wednesday, McVay revealed that it's something that will just need time to heal, but he did offer some more alarming details on the injury.

"Pre-hernia is kind of what he's feeling. And so, um, you air on the side of caution. Usually, time is the best thing that allows that thing to heal. And then once you get to a certain point, then I think you feel pretty good moving forward. But it's not something that, you know, from talking with Reggie and our medical group, that feels like is any sort of long-term threat," McVay said.

McVay stated that Nacua needs time to heal, and that he cannot simply take the field and "gut" through this type of injury. The more concerning aspect is that it could be "pre-hernia."

If that is the case for Nacua, the Rams may need to sideline him for multiple more weeks, especially if were to undergo hernia surgery. That is not what is happening, but the possibility has led McVay and the coaching staff to play things safe with him.

With Nacua not on the field, Davante Adams showed up in a big way in Week 2. It was an overall major change when compared to Week 1, as the Rams trounced the New York Giants with a final score of 28-6.

A big reason for that score and the success was due to Adams. He ended his day with 195 yards, two touchdowns, and a 24.2 yards per reception average on eight receptions.

Adams has always been good, but that performance was similar to how he showed up each week when he was far younger.

Adams also dealt with a nagging hamstring injury in 2025, but still managed to pull in 14 touchdowns, which led the league. Now, he has picked up right where he left off in 2026.

Nacua and Adams are a strong one-two combo that is tough for defenses to deal with. While the Rams are more dangerous with Nacua on the field, they are still dangerous with just Adams.
