The Los Angeles Rams have punched their postseason ticket with a dominant win against the Detroit Lions.
The Los Angeles Rams are 11-3, and are the first team in the NFL to secure a playoff berth. After a dominant 41-34 win, the Rams are heading to the postseason.
Heading into Week 15, the Rams were sitting at 10-3, and in first place in the NFC West and the NFC. With their 11th win of the season, they hold a comfortable lead in the conference.
The showdown with the Lions was not devoid of drama, as both teams battled it out in a shootout that was expected.
After a slow start for the Rams, which was coupled with an uncharacteristic interception throw from Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles would rebound and tie the game 7-7 in the final six minutes of the first quarter.
The second quarter was a back-and-forth that saw the Rams and Lions trade touchdowns and field goals, which saw Los Angeles trailing 24-17 heading into the third quarter.
The third quarter would belong to the Rams, who scored 17 unanswered points, leading to a 34-24 lead. The fourth quarter also contained some huge drama for the Rams.
Davante Adams would go down with a hamstring injury, knocking him out for the rest of the game. Minutes after that, Puka Nacua also went down, though his was categorized as cramps.
Nacua would return to the game, and the Rams were already well ahead at that point.
Stafford ended the day with 368 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, putting him even further in the MVP conversation.
The Rams offense contributed greatly to their win.
Nacua ended the day with 181 yards on nine receptions. Adams had 71 yards on four receptions. Colby Parkinson had a career day with 75 yards and two touchdowns.
The Rams' strong run game was on full display, as Kyren Williams picked up 78 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, while Blake Corum secured 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
The Lions' defense mostly kept Jared Goff upright, but the Rams were able to get after him with one sack and eight quarterback hits. Kobie Turner was the defender who recorded the sack.
This Rams team continues to play complementary football, and they are in the lead of the NFC conference in a big way. Should they secure the conference title, they will receive a first-round bye and home-field advantage through the duration of the playoffs.
