The Los Angeles Rams might be dealing with an injury to star quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams saw star quarterback Matthew Stafford play some of the best football he has ever played. He led the team to the NFC Championship Game and also ended up winning the NFL MVP award.

Throughout the course of the season, Stafford played in all 17 games. He completed 65 percent of his pass attempts for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Coming off of that campaign, expectations were high for the 38-year-old quarterback entering this season.

Unfortunately, the 2026 season has not yielded nearly the same results.

So far this year, Stafford has played in eight games. He has completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 2,146 yards, 15 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. At times, Stafford simply hasn't looked quite like himself.

Following the Rams' Week 8 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Sean McVay was asked about Stafford's health. He was spotted after the game with ice on his throwing arm. That led to some obvious concern.

McVay provided a bizarre answer.

“You’ll have to talk to him about that,” McVay said. “He’s had some soreness there. I think he’d be better equipped once you guys talk to him to answer that. I can’t attest to stuff that I’m not necessarily aware of.”

An arm injury of some kind would make a lot of sense for fans who have watched Stafford play. He has struggled to make accurate passes that he has made with ease in the past. There have been times where he hasn't been able to drive the football down the field.

Whether or not the injury is anything serious remains unknown. But, clearly this is a situation worth monitoring as the season moves forward.

Los Angeles has been hit with a plethora of injury issues already this season. Myles Garrett hasn't played since Week 1 due to a knee issue, Davante Adams is missing extended time due to a ruptured hamstring, and plenty of other players are out as well.

Despite the injury adversity, the Rams have found a way to stay afloat.

Garrett is expected to return to practice in the near future. The hope was that he would return last week, but that didn't happen. This week would be ideal.

Hopefully, the Stafford situation isn't something that will linger on throughout the remainder of the season. If it does, the Los Angeles offense may not play up to its full potential.

Expect to hear more questions about Stafford's health as the week progresses. For now, fans are left wondering what the problem could be and whether or not it's something worth worrying about.
