Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed an update on Myles Garrett following his surgery.

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett was officially placed on IR (injured reserve) and underwent surgery to repair a nagging knee injury. Now, he will be out for the next four regular season games at least.

Rams head coach Sean McVay has now offered a big update on Garrett, revealing they are not planning on rushing him back.

Garrett had the knee injury when he was traded, and that ailment continued to show up throughout training camp; he missed a great deal of practice.

Despite the injury, Garrett was a full participant in practice leading up to Week 1 in Australia, and he flew with the team to play. During the game against the San Francisco 49ers, the knee was clearly affecting Garrett, as he had to be subbed out plenty of times, and he looked off.

Garrett ended his day with zero tackles and sacks. It was shortly after that McVay revealed surgery would happen to fix the defender's nagging injury.

Now, Garrett has undergone the surgery, and McVay offered a big update.

Per Rams reporter Stu Jackson, McVay said that Garrett is "healing like Wolverine."

McVay also confirmed that Garrett may be out for more than just the four regular season games he is required to sit out by being placed on IR.

Interestingly, an orthopedic surgeon from Cedars-Sinai recently pointed to the excessive knee swelling as a deeper and more chronic problem for Garrett, which points to his having to miss more time to fully heal.

With McVay's comments on not rushing the defensive end back, the surgeon's prediction makes a bit more sense as well.

The Rams clearly need Garrett healthy, and they need to ensure that is when coming back from such a significant injury.

McVay Offers Update on Aaron Donald Playing

With Garrett out, the Rams are also awaiting the return of fellow defensive end Aaron Donald.

Donald is still ramping up to football activities and missed Week 1 as a result. Now, there is a strong chance that Donald will be ready to play in Week 2.

When speaking to the media, McVay indicated that Donald will test his body this week to be ready to play.

"What we are hopeful is, is that we'll have some good work today and tomorrow, and then hopefully he's feeling good enough. And if he says he's ready to go, then we'll be excited to see him rock," McVay said per Stu Jackson.

Donald will also not take the field until he is absolutely ready to go, but it does sound like that is rapidly approaching.

Having Donald on the field would be a major boost to the defense, which failed to generate much pressure on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

Los Angeles will need to correct this issue against the New York Giants' Jaxson Dart to stop that offense from securing big plays. The Giants also looked very formidable against the Dallas Cowboys.
