The Los Angeles Rams are set to visit with one of the more intriguing linebacker prospects, Cincinnati's Jake Golday.
The Los Angeles Rams are projected to be one of the top teams in the upcoming NFL season.
The 2026 season is set to be an incredible year for a team that was a game away from representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. Los Angeles was a play or two away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, and they are signaling that they are doing whatever they can to be the last team standing in 2026.
The Rams have a long way to go in that department. However, this offseason alone has been a step in the right direction. Los Angeles addressed their biggest weakness: the cornerback position. It was a major need, and they did so in the first week of free agency.
Now, they have other position needs to be filled, and one position that they must address is the linebacker position. That position is now arguably the weakest spot, not only on defense, but throughout the entire team.
The Rams recognize this, which is why they are set to meet with one of the more intriguing linebackers in the draft, Cincinnati's Jake Golday.
According to NFL writer Arye Pulli, the Rams are set to meet with Golday ahead of the NFL Draft.
The coverage linebacker is projected to be a late second-round pick. According to NFL Draft Buzz, Golday is ranked as the No. 58 overall prospect and No. 8 in the position rankings.
Golday played the last two seasons for Cincinnati and established himself as a top defender in the country. In 2024, Golday started in eight games, where he recorded 58 tackles and seven tackles for loss. That season, he earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and honorable mention All-Big 12 recognition.
The 22-year-old took his game to the next level in 2025. He collected a total of 105 tackles, six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks across eleven games. Golday earned another All-Big 12 nod.
At 6-foot-4 and 239 pounds, Golday could be a game wrecker for the Rams, who desperately need depth and youth at the linebacker position. Los Angeles has Nate Landman, who was incredible last season. They loved what they saw, which is why the Rams extended him last season.
However, the other linebacker spot could use some help, especially in pass coverage to go up against tight ends and running backs. That's where Golday could come into play.
Golday could develop into a long-term complement alongside Landman. He possesses a rare combination of size and speed, with the ability to cover sideline to sideline in long, rangy strides. His backside pursuit, given his physical tools, could be a real weapon for the Rams' defense.
