Rams sign Quentin Lake to contract extension ahead of return cover image

Los Angeles Rams captain and defensive standout Quentin Lake has signed a new contract extension ahead of his return from injury.

The Los Angeles Rams have made a major contract decision, signing team captain and defensive standout Quentin Lake to a three-year contract extension.

After spending multiples games on IR due to an elbow injury, Lake is set for his return. His 21-day practice window was opened on Thursday, with the intention of his return happening during the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Lake is now signed through the 2028 season.

Lake secured 111 tackles, five passes defended and two sacks during his breakout year in 2024. He was having another stellar season in 2025 before the elbow injury occurred.

In the 10 games that Lake appeared in during the 2025 season, he secured 10 passes defended, one interception, one sack, and 61 total tackles.

Lake also gave up a 61.7 completion percentage and 83.0 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks when targeted.

Simply put, Lake is a versatile defender that the Rams will only be better with, and he is now set to remain with the team for the next few seasons at least.

Following his signing of the contract, Lake spoke about what it means to sign a new deal with the Rams.

"Luckily enough, this organization took a chance on me, they believed in me. I was able to sign a contract extension this morning, but we have a more important matters, the game on Sunday," Lake said.

Lake also spoke about getting huge reactions from his teammates after signing the new deal.

“I think the coolest thing about it was seeing the reaction from my teammates,” Lake said. “And when you have people yelling and screaming, coming up and saying, ‘well-deserved,’ it makes you feel good.

"It was amazing, it was a pretty special moment," Lake added.

The Rams are set to face off against the Arizona Cardinals in their season finale. After a tough loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles is looking to end their season on a high note.

With the playoffs right around the corner, the Rams could either land the fifth or sixth seed, depending on how Week 18 shakes out.

Landing the fifth seed means facing the winner of the NFC South; staying at the sixth seed would mean facing either the Chicago Bears or the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lake is not expected back for the regular season finale, but he should be ready to play in the first game of the playoffs.
