Longtime NFL receiver and former Los Angeles Rams pass catcher Robert Woods is retiring after 13 seasons.
Woods took to Instagram to announce his retirement, and it has been revealed that he has signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Rams organization.
Woods posted his retirement on Instagram, stating:
"After 27 unforgettable years of pouring my heart into this game, and 13 incredible years in the NFL β It's time for me to step away from playing the sport that has given me everything," Woods said in a post on his Instagram account. "Football has never been a game to me β it has been my passion, my purpose, and my lifelong dream. I cherished every moment my cleats touched the grass. Every time I stepped onto the field, I was determined to leave a piece of myself in every snap.
"I always wanted my presence to be felt β by my teammates, by my opponents, by everyone watching. I competed with everything I had, willing to do whatever it took to finish the job and bring home the win. Lifting the Lombardi Trophy and becoming a Super Bowl champion was the dream I held onto as a child, and having the blessing to reach two and win one in 2022 is something I will treasure forever.
"None of this would have been possible without the incredible teammates who battled beside me, the coaches who believed in me, and the training the strength staffs who pushed me to be my very best. Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and helping turn my dreams into reality.
"To the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and Pittsburgh Steelers β thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream at the highest level.
"To the best fans in the world β thank you for your unwavering support, your energy, and your belief in me throughout my journey."
Woods ends his career with 683 receptions for 8,233 yards and 38 touchdowns. He started 67 of the 68 games he played with the Rams, and his two 1,000+ yards seasons were with Los Angeles during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
As a member of the Rams, he secured 4,626 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Woods won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021, but unfortunately, he saw his season end early due to a torn ACL. Regardless, he was an integral member of the team and now retires with Los Angeles.
