The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to take on their divisional rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, for the NFC Championship.
While the Rams roster is mostly healthy, the team's first injury report on Wednesday showed some concern for safety Quentin Lake and linebacker Byron Young.
Young missed practice due to a knee injury, and Lake missed practice due to an illness. Now, Rams head coach Sean McVay offered some injury updates on the pair.
Per Stu Jackson of therams.com, Lake returned to practice on Thursday despite his illness. Missing one day of practice was never going to be a concern, and it appears the safety will be ready to go for the NFC Championship game.
There is far more concern with Young, as he has missed his second day of practice.
Young has his second DNP (did not participate) status, but McVay had previously indicated on Monday that the team would take it easy with the defender.
McVay also stated that Young is "chomping at the bit" to get back on the field and be ready for the NFC Championship.
It is likely that Young will be upgraded to a limited participant on Friday, making it so that he will play in the game on Sunday. Should he miss three days of practice, it willd definitely draw more concern for the team.
Apart from Lake and Young, the first injury report only contained cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and linebacker Josaiah Stewart. Forbes injured his shoulder in the Divisional Round, and McVay indicated that it is not something concerning.
Forbes was limited in practice on Wednesday, and Thursday may be the same thing once the second injury report is released. Stewart was a full participant on Wednesday and is dealing with a knee injury of his own.
As it stands, the Rams have a mostly healthy roster heading into their most important playoff game. The first two games against the Seahawks went 1-1, and both were decided by a field goal or less.
Expect the result of this game to be the same. Both teams possess good defenses and the ability to stretch the field on offense.
The Rams will be at a loss if Young cannot play, but it does appear that he is being brought along slowly in practice this week — which will not rule him out for the NFC Championship.
