Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay details the approach the team will take with their 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Rams finished the 2025 season with a 12-5 record and a trip to the NFC Championship game.

Unfortunately, that is where the team's journey stopped, leading to a significant upgrade in the secondary to prevent another passing attack from happening by Sam Darnold or any strong quarterback in the NFC. While the Rams do not have any alarm-ringing needs ahead of the draft, head coach Sean McVay divulged a little on what the plan could be for the No. 13 overall pick.

The Rams could go the route of adding more pass-catching help, another strong linebacker, or bolstering the offensive line.

There’s also always a possibility the team could trade down, as they’ve done in previous drafts, to accumulate more selections later on. For now, though, it seems the Rams are focused on landing a high-impact player with the No. 13 overall pick.

Rams head coach Sean McVay appeared on the "Up & Adams Show" with Kay Adams and spoke on the team's strategy with the No. 13 overall pick.

At first, Adams asked for his opinion on Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. McVay did his best to swerve around that.

"We watch all of our guys," McVay said when Adams asked how much of Simpson's game he is watching. "I probably haven't done much work on him as you have. I like the way he handles himself. I like the way that you can evaluate the different things that he is able to do that can translate."

McVay said he likes a lot of prospects available at the No. 13 overall pick. The 40-year-old head coach added that every option is on the table, whether it’s a quarterback, wide receiver, or even a defensive player.

The Rams have one of the best rosters in the league, so they have the luxury of going with the best player available rather than a roster need.

After the Rams bolstered their cornerback position by adding All-Pro Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, many predict Los Angeles could go after a wide receiver or offensive lineman.

One could argue that the Rams were another wide receiver away from playing in the Super Bowl this past February. However, protection for Matthew Stafford or their quarterback of the future is also vital.

McVay, along with general manager Les Snead, has done well in evaluating and bringing in the right kind of talent, hence why the team has been so successful as of late. Still, they were arguably a couple of plays away from reaching the big game.

That said, any young talent brought in will add competition and growth to an already strong team. Time will tell if it's enough to push the Rams back to the Super Bowl.
