Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Rams left the NFC Championship in defeat, having been beaten by the Seattle Seahawks 31-27.
While the players on the Rams were clearly emotional with their loss, there was still a sense of camaraderie with an old friend: wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Now heading to Super Bowl LX as a Seahawk, Kupp is still fondly remembered for his eight-year tenure with the Rams, including a historic season with Los Angeles in 2021.
In the 2021 NFL season, Kupp led the league in countless statistics, with 191 targets, 145 receptions, 1,947 receiving yards, 16 receiving touchdowns, 89 receiving first downs, and 114.5 yards per game over 17 games.
Kupp carried this dominance into the postseason, where he led the NFL with 42 targets, 33 receptions, 478 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, 19 receiving first downs, and 483 yards from scrimmage.
It's no wonder Kupp took home countless accolades that year, including a Super Bowl championship, Super Bowl MVP, NFL Offensive Player of the Year, first-team All-Pro, and was named to his first Pro Bowl.
While his production has dropped since that history-making season, Kupp is still remembered fondly by the Rams fanbase and his former teammates, who proceeded to congratulate the receiver after the NFC Championship.
Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua quickly embraced Kupp, with Kupp noting that Nacua was "freaking unbelievable, man."
The former receiving duo shared their love for one another before Nacua said, "Blessed to be around you. Go win it, man. You deserve it, Coop. I love you so much, man."
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford also shared his admiration for Kupp. However, it was a bit more direct.
"Quit making me f****** look for you so long," Stafford said. "Go win your damn Super Bowl, kid."
While Kupp hasn't reached the same heights as when he last won a Super Bowl, his play in the NFC Championship was vital for the Seahawks' victory.
On six targets, Kupp made four receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown, the final touchdown that cemented Seattle's win over Los Angeles.
Kupp's former teammates weren't the only ones showing love for the former Super Bowl MVP. Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba sang Kupp's praises in a press conference after the NFC Championship.
"I'm super happy for him," Smith-Njigba said. "You know, we wouldn't be the team we are without Coop. You know, just what he brings on and off the field. He's a true leader, a true warrior. It's an honor to line up next to him."
