The Los Angeles Rams satisfied a major need when they traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. While the move cost the team their No. 29 pick, they still have the No. 13 overall pick to bring in a quality, potential young starter.
Ahead of the draft is free agency, which will begin on March 9 at 12 PM EST, which is when the legal tampering period can begin. March 12 is the start of the league year.
With free agency set to start on Monday, the Rams will still need to decide if they will bring back many of their pending free agents. They already made a move to re-sign standout safety Kam Curl, locking him up in a three-year, $36 million deal.
Tight end Tyler Higbee also returned on a two-year, $8 million deal.
With more deals set to happen, here are three pending free agents the Rams should consider bringing back.
Derion Kendrick
The trade for McDuffie and the deal for Curl helped to stabilize the secondary in a big way. However, more work needs to be done.
A solid depth piece for the Rams could be in Derion Kendrick, who has shown flashes of brilliance in limited starting time. Before he was claimed by the Rams, he secured two interceptions and five passes defended with the Seattle Seahawks.
Kendrick has not had a shot to start, but he could be blossoming into a solid rotational piece for Los Angeles. Even if he is mostly used as a special team defender and a backup for the main secondary unit, he could continue to grow.
Spotrac has Kendrick securing a one-year deal that is around $2.2 million, which would not break the bank for the Rams.
Cobie Durant
An even bigger piece of the Rams' secondary is Cobie Durant, who shone in 2025. He appeared in all 17 games, starting 15.
In total, Durant secured three interceptions, a defensive TD, seven passes defended, and 40 total tackles.
Durant also gave up a 55.4 completion percentage, 79.2 passer rating, and four touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks.
Much like Curl, Durant emerged in 2025 and could be a very big ascending player for the team. With his rookie contract wrapping up, the Rams could likely give him a one-year prove-it deal.
Jimmy Garoppolo
The Rams may not be able to afford Jimmy Garoppolo, but he is arguably the best backup in the league. Matthew Stafford continues to be an iron man in terms of not missing games, but having Garoppolo as insurance is the kind of peace of mind that Sean McVay needs.
Garoppolo may want another chance to start, and that could be given by teams like the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins, but the Rams might also consider offering a bit more on his contract to retain him.
McVay has already expressed his desire to keep Garoppolo, but it all depends on whether the front office and Les Snead want to enter a bidding war for the backup.
Either way, Garoppolo should be a high priority for the Rams.
