Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Myles Garrett receives a consensus ranking as the NFL's top pass rusher prior to the 2026 season.

Los Angeles Rams star edge rusher Myles Garrett was ranked as the NFL's top pass rusher in a recent ranking.

ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler took a survey from league executives, coaches, and scouts to compile a list of the top edge rushers in the game and rank them based on that feedback.

As a result of surveys, Garrett was unanimously ranked as the NFL's No. 1 edge rusher and has an opportunity to display that once again as he enters the 2026 season with a very talented Rams' defense around him.

"It's a clean sweep for Garrett, who was No. 1 on every ballot. That's rare for this exercise, which usually features at least one detractor. But Garrett is undeniable after a season for the ages that included an NFL-record 23 sacks -- and perhaps an even more impressive 33 tackles for loss."

As Fowler alluded to, Garrett's 2025 campaign was one of the most dominant seasons in NFL history as he set the single-season sack record with 23 sacks and also added 33 tackles for loss. The most impressive part about Garrett's 23 sacks is the fact that every offense knew how dangerous he was and did everything they could to stop him, but it was never enough to stop him from disrupting the game.

An NFL coordinator had high praise for Garrett's success and how he consistently defeats blockers no matter how offenses try to slow him down.

"He's seen every type of help an offense can give -- slide to him, chips from tight ends and running backs, only run plays away from him -- and he has a game plan or counter for all of it. From a mental standpoint, it's really impressive."

The sheer amount of dominance that Garrett has shown throughout his career is incredible and is something that should continue in Los Angeles, as he is now a part of one of the most talented rosters in the NFL.

Back in June, when the Rams acquired Garrett by trading Jared Verse and a package of picks, the NFL world was speechless because everyone knows how talented a player Garrett is and the kind of havoc he can wreak on opposing offenses.

Last season, Los Angeles fell just short of a Super Bowl appearance as they were bested by the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, who later went on to win the Super Bowl. In that NFC title game, the Rams were able to bring down Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold for three sacks; however, it did not do enough to disrupt his rhythm, which led to a total of 346 passing yards and three touchdowns.

With Garrett now on the Los Angeles defensive line, the Rams have a player who can single-handedly take over a game through constant backfield disruption, which should slow down opposing quarterbacks and force them into mistakes that the Rams can capitalize on.

If Garrett plays to his fullest potential and elevates the Rams' defense through generating negative plays consistently in the backfield, there is no question that this team has the potential to have a dominant season and once again raise the Lombardi Trophy in SoFi Stadium.
