The Los Angeles Rams have taken a key hit to the offensive line depth, as Justin Dedich has been added to the non-football injury list.
The Los Angeles Rams and coach Sean McVay have taken a hit to the offensive line depth as offensive lineman Justin Dedich has been placed on the Declared Non-Football Injury List to start training camp.
While Dedich is not a starter, he does project the two-deep for the Rams on the offensive line, meaning that if a starter were to go down, he could be the next man up. In terms of his natural position, he has shown the ability to be quite versatile on the interior after recording snaps at right guard, left guard, and center during the 2025 season.
Overall, Dedich has proven to be a solid rotational piece for the Rams on the offensive line, as indicated by his PFF metrics. According to PFF for the 2025 season, the lineman had an overall grade of 62.1 (No. 41 among guards) and a run block grade of 70.8 (No. 20 among guards). However, he does need to improve as a pass blocker after recording a pass block grade of 36.5 (No. 78 among guards).
While Dedich's pass blocking grade was not ideal, he allowed just one sack, four total quarterback hits, and 20 pressures on 302 pass blocking snaps. One of the most important things for the Rams is to keep MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford clean, and he has done a solid job of doing just that when looking at his pass protection metrics as a whole.
Dedich's run blocking grade of 70.8 also suggests that he can create lanes for the Rams' running back duo of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, which can help the offense to move the ball consistently on the ground.
With that said, not having Dedich to start training camp could be problematic for the Rams' offensive line depth as a whole.
To ensure that the interior of the offensive line specifically has the depth it needs, Los Angeles may need someone to step up as one of the top backups in the place of Dedich, depending on how much time he is expected to miss.
Rams Also Make Roster Move on Defense
The Rams made a roster move on the defensive side of the ball as they placed cornerback Al'zillion Hamilton on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.
After being signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent, Hamilton is set to begin his rookie year, but this designation will put him a bit behind in getting acclimated to the NFL level.
Hamilton showed plenty of promise in his collegiate career with the Fresno State Bulldogs, with this past season arguably being his best yet. In 2025 with Fresno State, he totaled 36 tackles, four pass breakups, and four interceptions, which showcased his ability to make plays on the ball.
Looking at the Rams' cornerback depth, Hamilton could still find a place in the rotation, but it could turn out to be quite difficult. Currently on the roster, the Rams have the two new additions in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, another solid player in Emmanuel Forbes Jr., as well as Cam Lampkin, Nyzier Fourqurean, and Drey Norwood.
With the sheer number of players the Rams have in the cornerback room, it is possible that Hamilton could be looking at more of a special-teams role in 2026 and maybe more of a role on defense in 2027.
