Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is ineligible to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was ruled ineligible to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8 despite his best efforts to make his NFL return.
Murray tore his ACL in his right knee last year on Dec. 12 in a game against the New England Patriots and has been working towards recovery ever since. During the week leading up to the Cardinals' matchup with the Ravens, Murray practiced fully and there was some speculation that he could be close to making his return.
However, it has been confirmed that Arizona did not activate their star quarterback for Sunday's game and he will be ineligible to play. His return from the ACL injury will have to wait until after the showdown with Baltimore.
The 26-year-old quarterback has played four seasons in the NFL, recording 13,848 passing yards and 84 passing touchdowns, while adding 2,204 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns with his legs. He was drafted by the Cardinals with the No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Starting in Murray's absence will be Joshua Dobbs, who will be making his 10th career NFL start. Dobbs started two games at the end of last season for the Tennessee Titans, and now has been tasked with leading the Cardinals this year.
In seven games this season, Dobbs has thrown for 1,361 yards and six touchdowns and has ran for another 232 yards and two touchdowns. While he isn't the same level of quarterback as Murray, Dobbs has held his own for most of the year.
The Ravens will be looking to improve to 6-2 when they head to Arizona for the matchup which will take place on Oct. 29 at 4:25 p.m.
