Lamar Jackson is clarifying the interpretation of his action and answer on a late Friday night video taken by a fan, with the question posed to the franchise tagged Ravens QB, "Are you comin' back?''
Fans of the Baltimore Ravens (not to mention the media) are understandably hungry for information about the "will he or won't he'' contractual future of the team's star and best player, former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
And so, yes, even the man's necklace might contain deep meaning.
Jackson has now clarified the interpretation of his action and answer on a late Friday night video taken by a fan, with the question posed to the franchise tagged QB, "Are you comin' back?''
Jackson and the Ravens have yet to come together on a long-term contract, so the question - heavy with reference to the possibility of a Jackson trade, or another team bidding, or even a holdout - is an important one.
And Lamar's immediate answer from his perch in a loud venue?
He reaches to his neck to reveal a chain with a medallion of a Ravens shield, and smiles.
Which in code means, of course, "Yes, I am coming back to the Ravens!''?
Well, not quite.
While a Ravens fan can still take something positive from Lamar's choice of jewelry - if he "hates'' the franchise he sure picked an odd way to adorn himself in public - Jackson has since used social media to clarify his "raising of the shield.''
In short, he noted on Saturday morning, he simply didn’t hear what he was being questioned at the concert due to the noise level.
"I didn't hear a word that (was said),'' Jackson posted. "It was too loud. See what you started!''
