Looking ahead to Sunday's game, here are three X-Factors who must step up for the Baltimore Ravens to defeat the Bills.
The Baltimore Ravens are making their final preparations for their Week 8 showdown against the Buffalo Bills. In what could be one of the best games of the week, the two AFC powerhouses will both look to make a statement.
For the Ravens, they are set to welcome back Lamar Jackson. He has missed time due to a high-ankle sprain. After losing each of their last two games, a statement win over the Bills would both prove that they are a legitimate contender, while also getting their season back on track.
On the other side of the field, Buffalo is 5-1 entering this week's game. Josh Allen and company are looking to continue proving that they are the team to beat in the conference.
It will be an intriguing matchup between two teams loaded with talent.
All of that being said, let's take a look at three X-Factors who must step up for Baltimore to pull off a much-needed win over the Bills.
3. The Ravens' Entire Pass Rush
Putting pressure on Allen will be a major key for the Ravens this week. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but is capable of making mistakes when he has to force the issue.
If Baltimore can put consistent pressure on Allen throughout the game, the defense will be in good shape. That task is much easier said than done, especially with Allen's ability to get outside of the pocket and extend plays or make them with his legs.
2. Derrick Henry, Running Back
Establishing the running game will also be a major key for Baltimore. Henry has not been as dominant as usual so far this season, averaging 3.9 yards per carry. However, he has totaled 579 yards and seven touchdowns on 147 carries.
So far this season, the Bills have been a middle of the pack defense against the run. They are currently giving up 101 yards per game. Henry will need to surpass that number for the Ravens' offense to be most successful.
1. Lamar Jackson, Quarterback
Having Jackson back on the field will be a major plus for Baltimore. But, there can be slow starts when a player returns from injury.
The Ravens will hope that Jackson can pick up where he left off before the injury. He had completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception, while also running for 144 yards and a score. Baltimore needs Jackson to have a strong performance to come out on top this week.
