One of the major needs for the Baltimore Ravens in the upcoming 2026 offseason is pass rush help. While Anthony Weaver indicated the team "certainly has some dudes that can get there," the team needs more.
A player that could be on the Ravens radar is pending free agent Odafe Oweh, the former Baltimore pass rusher who was traded to the Los Angeles Chargers. During the coordinator press conference, head coach Jesse Minter may have inadvertently hinted at the possibility.
Oweh had a wonderful season with the Chargers, picking up 7.5 sacks, 28 total tackles, and 13 quarterback hits.
Even before being traded, Oweh was an emerging force as a pass rusher, securing 15 sacks in the previous two seasons combined. The Chargers may or may not bring Oweh back, setting up a potential reunion with his former team.
Granted, Oweh could be upset that the Ravens traded him to begin with, but might also be keen on rejoining Minter.
During the coordinator press conferences, Minter was asked how he was able to get "so much" out of Ofeh when he went to the Chargers, and if there is a chance he could return to the Ravens.
"Odafa, you know, we made a trade, picked him up. At the time needed an edge rusher and I know, you know, Joe and Eric obviously worked out the trade. I think we just created an environment for him that he played with a lot of confidence. I simplified some things that we were asking him to do. Allowed him at times to have a little more freedom as a pass rusher. Uh, I know he's earned the right to be a free agent now and he had a really good statistical ending to his his uh initial contract in the NFL," Minter said.
While Minter offered some coach speak about what he was able to do in terms of Oweh exploding in the way he did with the Chargers, which could be something he can mimic if the pass rusher returns to the Ravens.
"He's earned the right to be a free agent. So, he'll have every opportunity to, you know, look at it all and do all that. And I know Eric and the guys will make great decisions on who we bring in here in free agency," Minter added.
Minter smiled at the question, and his response was one that appeared to indicate that he would accept Oweh returning to the Ravens. However, that will be up to general manager Eric DeCosta.
Spotrac has Oweh predicted to land a three-year, $57 million deal. At $19 millon per season, he would be paid similarly to Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat, who picked up 12 sacks in 2025.
The Ravens could land Oweh without breaking the bank and bring back one of the biggest ascending pass rushers in the game.
