Former All-Pro Ravens linebacker Bart Scott makes strong pitch for Maxx Crosby trade cover image

Former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro linebacker Bart Scott makes a strong pitch for a Maxx Crosby trade.

The Baltimore Ravens need a strong pass rush, which should be a main focus for general manager Eric DeCosta. After he claimed the team would go against the grain in free agency and land "big ticket" items, a game-wrecking pass rusher would make sense.

One such game-wrecker that could be available for a blockbuster trade is Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. Crosby has been the subject of trade rumors, and former Ravens All-Pro linebacker Bart Scott has made a compelling argument on why he would make sense in Baltimore.

Baltimore struggled mightily in 2025, and the defense became stagnant with a mostly missing pass rush. After years of being known for defense, losing a stalwart defensive tackle like Nnamdi Madubuike led to the other linebackers on the Ravens becoming less potent.

Madubuike is still dealing with a neck injury that may or may not lead to him playing again. That said, even if he did return, more is needed.

No member of the Ravens defense got near double-digit sacks, and that is inexcusable when players like Kyle Hamilton and Roquan Smith play their hearts out every game.

The elements to set up a good pass rush are there, but there isn't a player on the Ravens roster who can get after the quarterback in the manner the defense needs them to. However, if there is even a remote chance that Crosby could be traded to Baltimore, Scott provided a big reason why.

"I think Ravens are an amazing spot for Crosby,” Scott said on “Get Up” on Friday. “At this age, you want to be on the biggest stage. You want to win. Imagine having Derrick Henry on offense running the ball and is the game gets closer and closer you have someone (in Crosby) who can get to a guy like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow… (Crosby) plays relentless. He plays with his hair on fire. It’s like he was built to be a Raven," Scott said.

Scott has a point with the way that Crosby plays, matching up to former greats such as Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, and more. The Raiders defensive end is a game-changer and would transform the Ravens defense.

Granted, the Raiders view Crosby as a cornerstone piece, but their constant struggles have put a strain on him. This was especially true when he was shut down at the end of the 2025 season due to his lingering knee ailment, which led him to storm out of the building.

If Crosby wants to be on a winner and has no interest in another Raiders rebuild, they may have no choice but to trade him. The Ravens also have the cap space and capital to facilitate a trade for the All-Pro defensive end.
