This NFL insider has made a bold prediction regarding the future of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.
There is no question that Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Jackson has established himself as an elite player and is arguably the best in the league.
He's been the pillar of the Ravens for his entire career, but his future with the organization is unclear. That is the case due to his massive and unsustainable $74.5 million cap hit in 2026. It is a necessity that the two sides restructure the contract to bolster the rest of the roster.
The Ravens must do that, and all signs point to the two sides getting a deal done. However, anything past this season is unclear, and according to columnist Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor, he thinks this season will be Jackson's last in Baltimore.
“I don’t know if there’s any crazy rumors I’ve heard at this point (at the combine), but I think this is probably Lamar Jackson’s final year in Baltimore,” Faria said. “It’s more of just … a lot of things have come out about Lamar Jackson as a player and as a person and there are people concerned in the organization. I think there will come at a point where there are people in the organization who just say ‘This is not worth it.’ ”
The 29-year-old is expected to remain the Ravens franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. However, the time is ticking for Jackson to deliver a title to Baltimore.
It’s been one shortcoming after another for the Ravens and Jackson. Last season was defined by injuries and inconsistency, but in previous years, the issues have varied.
From struggles to close out games to untimely injuries and an inability to adjust offensively against elite playoff defenses, those factors have repeatedly derailed both the team and its franchise quarterback when it has mattered most.
There is no doubt that Jackson is an elite player, but there are still questions regarding his ability to lead his team to the promised land. Jackson and the Ravens have come close to playing in the final game of the season, and the question now is if they can break through.
Jackson has been incredible from the start in his time in Baltimore. He's been named a Pro Bowler four times, a three-time All-Pro, two-time MVP, and the 2019 Offensive Player of the Year.
All those accomplishments are nice, but it's time for the Ravens to go to the next level. This season could be do-or-die for Jackson and his time with the organization.
