The Baltimore Ravens have reportedly acquired quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals.
The Baltimore Ravens came out of Week 8 action with injuries to both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Jackson was placed on IR due to a thumb injury, while Huntley has been ruled out for the season due to a turf toe injury.
Following those two injuries, panic started rising surrounding the Ravens' quarterback room.
With the NFL trade deadline coming up on November 10, rumors started circulating about who Baltimore could target. On Wednesday afternoon, the Ravens officially worked out a trade to bring in a new veteran quarterback.
According to a report from longtime NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Baltimore has acquired veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals.
He also noted that the trade is expected to be completed by the weekend. That means the trade will not be finalized in time for Brissett to play on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Brissett recently lost his starting job with the Cardinals to Gardner Minshew II. After that decision was made by Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur, rumors began swirling around Brissett's future with the team.
So far this season, the 33-year-old quarterback played in eight games. He has completed 63.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Brissett has also chipped in with 87 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Heading into Week 9 NFL action, the Ravens hold a 4-4 record. After their 4-1 start to the year, the team has lost three straight games. This move is a last-ditch effort to keep the season afloat.
It will be interesting to see how Brissett performs in Baltimore. Whether or not Jackson will return later in the year remains to be seen as well.
While the move for Brissett isn't a move for a quarterback who can power the Ravens to the playoffs, it could help them stay afloat as they hope for Jackson to return. Brissett is also in the final year of his contract, so Baltimore won't be giving up future financial assets.
Hopefully, Brissett is able to come in after Week 9 and help the Ravens win a few football games. Jackson is guaranteed to miss at least four games due to being placed on injured reserve. If he can return shortly after that window, Baltimore could still have a shot in the AFC.
All of that being said, the trade has been made and there is a new quarterback about to be on his way to the Ravens.
