The Baltimore Ravens and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie have agreed to a deal.
Awuzie will re-sign with the team, signing a one-year deal worth $5 million.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo shared the news via X.
The 30-year-old will return to Baltimore after signing with the team last offseason.
Last offseason, Awuzie signed a one-year deal with the team, and now he will return for his second season in Baltimore. After the massive free agency losses, this is a big one for the Ravens.
Awuzie's first season as a Raven was a solid one. In 14 games with five starts, he recorded 43 total tackles, one quarterback hit, and seven passes defended.
At one point last season, Awuzie had the second-best PFF coverage grade among all NFL cornerbacks. The veteran cornerback was one of the more underrated additions last season and proved to be one of the team’s most dependable cover corners. He finished with seven pass breakups, which ranked fourth on the team.
Prior to his time in Baltimore, Awuzie played for the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Dallas Cowboys.
In his NFL career, Awuzie has recorded 438 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, 73 passes defended, five forced fumbles and seven interceptions in 108 games and 86 starts.
The Ravens needed some major reinforcements at the cornerback position heading into the 2026 offseason. Baltimore has invested heavily in that position group in the past, but the secondary was mediocre at best last season.
The secondary faced uncertainty due to potential declines in veteran performance, injuries, and a need for improved depth. Even one of the unit’s top players, Marlon Humphrey, endured a difficult season.
It was a year marked by inconsistency and injuries, and Humphrey’s struggles only added to the concerns. That led to questions about his long-term future with the Ravens, particularly given his sizable salary, with some suggesting his skill set could eventually be better utilized in a safety role.
Their secondary unit in 2024 was among the best, but that was far from the case in 2025. They started the season off ranked among the bottom 10, ranking 31st in pass defense at one point in the season; however, they improved in the second half of the season.
Still, it was not enough to make the playoffs.
The Ravens will look to build off their strong finish to the season. Awuzie will play a vital role with the team as they look to establish themselves as a juggernaut in the AFC.
Awuzie will enter his 10th season in the league.
