Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta revealed some extra details regarding the transition, including Lamar Jackson being heavily involved in the head coach search.

The Baltimore Ravens have had a ton of huge changes during the 2026 offseason. This includes firing longtime head coach John Harbaugh, who has since been replaced by Jesse Minter.

Before the search for the head coach began, owner Steve Bisciotti indicated that he wanted Lamar Jackson to be heavily involved in the search for a head coach. Though it was expected to be the case, general manager Eric DeCosta admitted that Jackson was a huge asset during the search.

DeCosta joined 105.7 The Fan to talk about the team, and admitted that Jackson helping was the "best job."

"I think that was one of the things as we interviewed coaches, what made our job, I think, really in my mind, one of the best jobs, maybe the best job, was Lamar and having the chance to work with him," DeCosta said.

Considering the Ravens fired Harbaugh, it was believed that the bigger reason for the departure was due to Jackson's prime being "wasted" or was seen as underwhelming. The young passer is a two-time MVP, but Baltimore has not made it to the Super Bowl, despite the talent that has been with the team on both sides of the ball.

Bisciotti indicated as much during his rare appearance when he spoke about the transition the organization would engage in. He spoke highly of Jackson and revealed that he is a major component and the face of the franchise.

Naturally, this would mean that Jackson's input was going to be very important. Bisciotti also indicated the choice would still be his, but he would listen to the recommendations from his franchise quarterback.

Thus far, the players have been all-in on Minter. The former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator worked his way up and had been described as a future head coach.

Though he went from Michigan to Los Angeles, it was only a matter of time until he landed a job as a head coach.

Minter has had an impact on the team already, as DeCosta indicated that the entire vibe of the team has been huge.

Jackson also attended the voluntary offseason workout program, which proved plenty that he is buying into this new regime change, and that makes sense considering he played a large part in the search.

"It’s just a great vibe. It’s not just him. It’s everybody. It’s Derek. It’s Zay. It’s the line, the D line. It’s really everybody’s offense and the attendance has been great. The energy’s been really nice to see," DeCosta said.
