Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter offered an injury update on Lamar Jackson.
The Baltimore Ravens have been without quarterback Lamar Jackson for three games, and the team has now gone 1-2 in that time. Jackson has been out due to a high-ankle sprain.
During media availability on Monday, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter offered an injury update on the quarterback, saying he is "working his butt off to be back."
Jackson suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Week 4. After being tackled from behind by a Tennessee Titans defender, it was revealed that the quarterback had suffered the ankle injury.
Tyler Huntley was warming up on the sideline and took over the rest of the game. He was not able to put points on the board with the offense, which has been the team's major issue through these three games.
Huntley showed some big command of the offense in Week 5, orchestrating a fourth-quarter comeback and overtime win, but that was the only impressive performance thus far.
The Ravens' offense is simply built for and runs at optimal levels with Jackson. Now, it appears he may be back for Week 8.
"Lamar is working his butt off to be back and be out there. I think he was able to get in a little bit of work towards the end of last week. I think he'll be in a decent spot, but we'll know more about that on Wednesday," Minter said.
Huntley and the Ravens' offense have stumbled far too much, and their second-half collapses have been detrimental.
In the past two games, the Ravens have scored a total of 23 points but have been outscored by 48 points. This led to losses to the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.
Had Jackson been in the game in Week 6, he likely could have gotten more points on the board. The Ravens lost 10-13, but were far more blown out by the Bengals on Sunday.
After leading 13-0 at halftime, the Bengals poured it on with 14 points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth.
The Ravens need to find a way to not only put more points on the board, but also get some defensive stops.
Both sides of the ball have failed to do their part, and Baltimore sits at 4-3. With two consecutive divisional losses, that could come back to haunt the team down the stretch.
Jackson being back could be what the team needs, not only on offense, but as a beacon of leadership to help the team get out of its last two losses. It all just depends on whether he can return.
The Ravens have plenty of football left to play, but the team needs to figure out their issues. Even with Jackson, they cannot keep blowing first half leads.
