Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter stated that he is unsure whether or not quarterback Lamar Jackson will be back to practice on Wednesday.
The Baltimore Ravens were able to pull off a massive win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, as backup quarterback Tyler Huntley led the team.
Lamar Jackson was ruled out due to suffering a sprained ankle in Week 4, and there is a hance he won't be back on Wednesday when the Ravens start getting set to practice for their matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
During media availability, head coach Jesse Minter stated that though the quarterback is progressing in his recovery, he remains unsure about Jackson's chances of being back at practice early this week.
Jackson suffered the injury in the second-to-last play of the second quarter against the Tennessee Titans. He had attempted to evade pressure but was caught from behind, leading to his ankle being tangled up by a Titans defender.
Following halftime, Jackson emerged from the tunnel in his uniform, but without a helmet on. Huntley was then shown taking over snaps.
The issue that the Ravens faced is Huntley could not lead the offense to score points, but the score was already 24-7. Minter had said after the Week 4 victory that Jackson could have come back in the game had he needed to.
That was not the case. Jackson was also ruled out in Week 5, pointing to a far more serious injury. He might also need to take another week off, depending on how he progresses this week.
"He's definitely doing better," Minter said of Jackson. "Wednesday, I'm not sure exactly how that practice will look. To Lamar's credit, he is doing everything he can to get back out there."
Minter went into praising Jackson for staying on the sideline to hype up his teammates, while also coaching Huntley along during the course of the game. Whatever the Ravens starter said clearly had an impact on everyone around.
Should Jackson not be able to play again in Week 6, Huntley will take over again.
Huntley struggled against a strong Falcons front to start the game, but he hit his stride later in the game. This included an impressive fourth-quarter touchdown, a 2-point conversion, and an over seven-minute overtime drive to cap off the win.
The Ravens are set to face the Browns, which will be tough considering it is a divisional rival. Former Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken is now the head coach and knows the organization deeply.
Additionally, Monken has been leading the Browns to some big wins. They sit at 3-2 and are looking very competitive in 2026. The Ravens will have their hands full, and Huntley and company will need to bring their A-game if they want to win.
Jackson certainly has a chance to play in Week 6, but a couple of missed practices might all but guarantee he will miss a second straight game.
