Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter seemed to confirm that wide receiver Zay Flowers is set to play in Week 3.
The Baltimore Ravens are in Brazil as they prepare to take on the Dallas Cowboys. During media availability, head coach Jesse Minter offered some big injury updates.
Minter stated that the tackle Ronnie Stanley will be decided later on Friday, as he has missed practice all week. Surprisingly, Minter also seemed to confirm that both wide receiver Zay Flowers and defensive tackle Nnmadi Madubuike will be in the game.
Flowers has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury that led to him missing the second half of the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The hamstring continued to bother the receiver, and he was ruled out for Week 2.
Now, Flowers has missed the first two days of practice, but he was spotted on the field on Friday. Though the assumption was that he might miss Week 3, Minter seemed to indicate the opposite.
"With Ronnie, may go all the way up. I feel like the other guys have a real opportunity to help us in the game, so excited about that," Minter said.
Minter had been asked about Stanley, Flowers, and Madubuike, with the latter two being among those who can "help" the team in the game.
Stanley is the only player that Minter stated would likely be a game-time decision or that they will decide whether or not to rule him out when the third and final injury report is released.
Getting Flowers back will be huge for the Ravens offense, as not having him on the field in Week 2 was felt. Rashod Bateman stepped up with 88 yards and one touchdown, but more receiving help was sorely needed.
The update on Madubuike is also huge, as the defensive tackle seemed to indicate that he was unsure he would play in Week 3. When asked about being ready to play, Madubuike was noncommittal about his involvement.
It could be that the defensive tackle was not prepared to announce that he is fully back until it actually happened.
Either way, getting Flowers back on offense and Madubuike back on defense will be huge for the Ravens.
Linebacker Teddye Buchanan also practiced in full the past two days, and he is tracking to also be able to take the field. How many snaps he gets in his return remains to be seen, but Minter will likely establish a good rhythm for the young defender to get back on the field.
Considering the fourth-quarter collapse in Week 2, the Ravens are getting back the right players who can help push the team into a victory if that same situation occurs against the Cowboys.
