Ravens' Lamar Jackson exits Patriots game with concerning injury cover image

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered a concerning back injury late in the second quarter, leading to his exit.

The Baltimore Ravens have kept pace with the New England Patriots through nearly an entire half of football. Unfortunately, that dynamic may change, as quarterback Lamar Jackson exited the game late in the second quarter.

Following a run for Jackson, he was tackled and appeared to roll over with a Patriots defender. Initially, it was believed that he suffered a potential rib injury, but the team revealed he suffered a concerning back issue.

Jackson was on the sideline in considerable pain, and he continued to wince while speaking to the training staff. Moments after the injury, Jackson was walked to the locker room to get checked out.

Following the injury, the Ravens ruled Jackson questionable to return with a back injury. This is a terrible situation for the Baltimore quarterback, as he has been dealing with multiple injury issues throughout the 2025 season.

Tyler Huntley came in during a 3-and-12 situation, but was unable to pick up the first down. The Ravens were able to kick a field goal to tie the game 10-10 before the end of the second quarter.

The Ravens losing Jackson now and for future games will be tough to deal with. The team needs to beat the Patriots to keep their playoff hopes alive, especially after the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Detroit Lions.

Baltimore would have a tough time making the playoffs if they do not win out. Jackson being out for this game and any one of the final two contests would definitely not help matters.

When Jackson suffered his hamstring injury, the Ravens lost two consecutive games. Right before he returned, the team went on a five-game winning streak.

After two consecutive losses to the Cincinnati Bengals and Steelers, the Ravens find themselves at 7-7 and fighting for their playoff lives.

The best-case scenario for the Ravens is that Jackson can return to the game with some sort of protection for his back and rib area. The worst case is that he misses this game and more time due to whatever injury occurred.

Either way, Jackson leaving the Patriots game can make or break the Ravens' season. Huntley will need to step up and help lead the team to a big win.
