Lamar Jackson was not the same quarterback that the NFL world knows him to be in 2025. The Baltimore Ravens signal caller was hit with hamstring, toe, knee, and other injuries that kept him off the field a lot more than the team clearly wanted.
The 2025 season was just a reminder that even the best players can be brought back down to Earth in a big way. Still, Jackson has now been given a questionable ranking on the 2025 season quarterback tier list.
With the 2025 season now a thing of the past, the Ravens can look to the future with head coach Jesse Minter and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.
Doyle will be instrumental in helping Jackson get to the next level of his still-young career. He is only a year removed from a season where he could have arguably won his third league MVP.
Clearly, the 2025 season was nothing close to that. However, that does not mean that Jackson has lost a step in his capabilities.
Oddly enough, NFL.com writer Nick Shook put together a quarterback tier list that not only seems to point to Jackson needing to work his way back, but also puts the Ravens passer in a questionable ranking.
According to Shook, Jackson is ranked No. 11 in the quarterback rankings and is in Tier 2 alongside Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams, Jared Goff, and more.
"Lamar Jackson wasn't himself for most of the 2025 season because of the injuries he suffered. His mobility disappeared for weeks, but once it returned, he reminded us why he's won the NFL MVP award twice. His showing in Week 18 was scintillating and will remain burned in my memory for quite some time. As Isaiah Likely told 'NFL Daily' on Radio Row during Super Bowl week, Jackson had that look in his eye that night. Hopefully, he'll have it throughout 2026," Shook wrote.
Shook has a point in that Jackson was not himself for most of the season. However, placing him below the top 10 does seem to be a bit questionable.
Jackson has been an elite passer for multiple years, along with his ability to run the ball. Granted, those were not in full display in 2025, but that does not mean that he cannot bounce back.
The Ravens do have a brand-new coaching staff in place, along with Doyle and a new quarterbacks coach in Israel Woolfork. There could be some growing pains, but Jackson is still Jackson.
Even in a down year, he threw 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and ended the season with a 103.8 passer rating. He also rushed for 349 yards and two touchdowns.
Jackson and the Ravens are poised to be competitive in 2026, and his quarterback ranking could shoot up after a few weeks of good performances when the regular season rolls around.
