The Baltimore Ravens have been without Lamar Jackson for practically two games, as the quarterback suffered a deep tissue back contusion in Week 16, which knocked him out of the game right before halftime.
Jackson did not heal in time and was ruled out for Week 17, but a huge game from Derrick Henry helped the Ravens solidify the dominant win over the Green Bay Packers. Now, Jackson has revealed more about his injury, and his availability for the regular season must-win finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jackson spoke to the media, revealing that he is "100 percent" going to suit up against the Steelers.
"Yeah, 100 percent, I'll be out there ... I feel great. I feel great to be out there my guys aways, I feel great," Jackson said.
The Ravens have had an uncharacteristic up-and-down season, which has been rife with injuries for Jackson. Knee, toe, ankle, hamstring, and now a back injury have led to missed games and practices.
Despite the missed time, Jackson has been a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He is likely to enter the game without an injury status.
Jackson spoke more about his treatment that has led to him being able to play on Sunday.
"Doing a lot of treatment. Trying to get that contusion out of there," Jackson said.
Jackson also revealed that he will be wearing protection for his back, similar to a flak jacket that is used to protect players from rib injuries.
"I'm trying to keep my back protected," Jackson said of the back protection he will use.
Jackson also revealed that Monday was the day he felt that he was set to play on Sunday against the Steelers.
Harbaugh revealed previously that Jackson was suffering from a deep back contusion that was constricting the muscles around the area. He also stated that the quarterback had improved heading into the Week 17 game, but not enough to get him back on the field.
From the two full practices and Jackson's comments, it does appear that he will be healthy heading into the game. He has also not had a full week of practice since Week 10, so getting out there for an entire week bodes well for his health overall.
The Ravens will meet the Steelers for the AFC North title for the first time in their storied rivalry between both teams. The winner will win the division and make the playoffs, and the loser will see their season end.
