Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is pitching to bring back edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

The Baltimore Ravens made a big push to upgrade their pass rush by bringing in Trey Hendrickson. They also attempted to land Maxx Crosby, but the trade fell through due to a failed physical.

Despite Hendrickson being signed, more is needed, and that could be in the form of former Ravens edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. Following a social media post indicating his interest in returning, Lamar Jackson has pitched for that to happen.

Clowney most recently played with the Dallas Cowboys, picking up 8.5 sacks in what was a bounce-back year for the longtime veteran. Despite only playing in 13 games and starting six, he made his presence felt.

With Clowney being a free agent, the Ravens could take a look at the defender, who played in Baltimore during the 2023 season.

After a social post indicated that Clowney is interested in returning to the Ravens, a fan asked Jackson directly if he would want the All-Pro back, to which the quarterback simply replied, "definitely."

When Clowney played for the Ravens, he tied his career-high 9.5 sacks.

Though he is 33 years old, the longtime veteran defender proved in 2025 that he is still a viable threat in the pass rush game. It is strange that the Cowboys have not brought Clowney back or that many other teams have not reached out as well.

Granted, the draft is three weeks away, and most teams might be looking to bolster their pass rush with younger defenders. However, Clowney is a veteran presence that would be good for locker rooms and can help guide the younger players coming in.

As stated, Hendrickson was brought in to provide a big boost to the pass rush game, but he is not an every-down defender. With a need for a player who can be good against the run, Clowney would provide that.

Per Pro Football Focus, Clowney was ranked 26th out of 115 edge rushers with an overall grade of 70.6 for run defense. His 80.6 pass rush grade is ranked 15th.

The Ravens experienced a down year in 2025, and the defense needs to elevate. With the loss of Dre'Mont Jones, the team might be looking towards Tavius Robinson and Mike Green to take that next step.

Still, having veteran players matters a great deal as well. With the unknown timeline on whether Nnamdi Madubuike will return, Clowney could come in and be a big-time piece for this new Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver defense.
