Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has appeared at practice and is engaging in full team drills.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson appears to be fully practicing on Thursday. After he appeared on the injury report as limited on Wednesday, the quarterback looks to be in a better place.
Throughout the weeks since Jackson suffered an ankle injury, head coach Jesse Minter has stated that when he is ready to go, he will be ready. That appears to be trending up, as the passer was seen engaging in full-team drills for the first time since the start of practice for Week 4.
Jackson suffered a sprained ankle when he was tackled from behind by a Tennessee Titans defender at the end of the first half in Week 4. Initially, the injury was not apparent, but he did not emerge from the tunnel with a helmet on.
Huntley was seen warming up on the sideline, and he took over for the remainder of the game.
Jackson's ankle clearly needs some time to fully heal, as he missed both Week 5 and Week 6.
Huntley orchestrated a comeback win in Week 5, but the offense stuttered plenty in Week 6. The backup posted a 1-1 record during his time taking over, and the Ravens sit at 4-2 currently.
Baltimore's Week 6 loss was a bit tougher, as they fell to the Cleveland Brown, which is now sitting in first place in the AFC North.
The Ravens' offense clearly revolves around Jackson and his ability to maximize the potential of Declan Doyle's system. Despite the quarterback appearing at practice in team drills, Doyle stated that the signal caller has a "long way to go" to play.
Jackson is trending towards making his return, but he might also still be limited when the injury report is released later on Thursday. Should the passer heal up a bit more and be upgraded to a full participant on Thursday and Friday, he will have a strong chance to play.
Jackson might also be downgraded depending on how his ankle is feeling throughout the rest of the week.
Baltimore is set to face the Cincinnati Bengals in their second consecutive divisional matchup. Getting Jackson back out there would be huge for the offense, but not if he is not fully healed and ready to go.
As Doyle said, it depends on the ankle for Jackson. Having a "long way to go" does not provide much confidence in the way of the starter being ready to suit up against the Bengals on Sunday.
