The Baltimore Ravens have landed a major update on Lamar Jackson before facing Buffalo this week.
The Baltimore Ravens have a massive game on their schedule in Week 8. Coming off of two straight losses, the team is gearing up to take on Josh Allen and the 5-1 Buffalo Bills.
Leading up to this week's game, the questions surrounding the Ravens have mostly had to do with the status of superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson. He has been forced to miss time due to an ankle injury.
With Jackson on the sideline, Tyler Huntley has done his best to keep the team afloat. Unfortunately, after an impressive 4-1 start, Baltimore currently sits at 4-3.
Despite the disappointing back-to-back losses coming into this week's game, the Ravens are still a legitimate contender in the AFC. Now, they're set to potentially have Jackson back under center.
According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Jackson is expected to be the starter this week against the Bills.
Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league when healthy. Fans will be in for a treat getting to watch him face off against Allen.
So far this season, the 29-year-old signal caller has played in four games. Jackson has completed 70.8 percent of his pass attempts for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interceptions, while also picking up 144 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Not only will Jackson's return to the field give Baltimore's passing game a lift, Derrick Henry's job on the ground will get easier. No longer will opposing defenses be able to stack the box and dare Huntley to beat them.
That isn't to say that Huntley hasn't done a good job filling in for Jackson. In four games played, the veteran quarterback has thrown for 727 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, while completing 69.8 percent of his passes. He has also chipped in with 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Even though Huntley has done a good job carrying out his role as the Ravens' backup, Jackson's return is a massive upgrade.
It will be interesting to see what the superstar quarterback is able to do this week. Buffalo is one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL. A win would be a major statement made from Baltimore.
Kickoff is scheduled for for 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon and fans will be able to watch on CBS. At least for now, it sounds like Jackson will be making his return to the field.
