The free agent hits for the Baltimore Ravens continue on, as tight end Charlie Kolar is now heading to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Kolar has signed a three-year, $24.3 million deal with the Chargers, rejoining a Harbaugh brother.
Kolar is one of the best blocking tight ends, as Ari Meirov indicated, and he began to emerge in the passing game with Baltimore in 2025. He ended the season with 142 yards and two touchdowns.
The Ravens have now lost Kolar and Isaiah Likely, who signed a three-year deal with the New York Giants.
With Kolar out, the only tight end on the roster is Mark Andrews, who was given a three-year, $39.267 million contract in December 2025.
Andrews is a consummate pro and an important member of the Ravens, hence why he was extended. However, Eric DeCosta needs to find a way to replace the likes of Likely and Kolar.
Expect DeCosta to target the position in the draft, but he might also be attempting to bring in a tight end in free agency.
An option could be Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, who will not be returning to the AFC North rival.
The issue with signing Njoku is that it would be a short-term deal, considering he is 29 years old and has played nine seasons in the NFL thus far. Baltimore does have Andrews, who also has a similar skill set.
The exodus of Likely and Kolar might also mean that the Ravens will bring back fullback Patrick Ricard, who has acted as a tight end in certain situations.
More blocking will be needed, especially after the massive loss of center Tyler Linderbaum, who went to the Las Vegas Raiders on a historic three-year, $81 million deal.
The Ravens did sign former offensive lineman John Simpson, but more is definitely needed. That is especially true regarding the ability to protect Lamar Jackson and open up running lanes for Derrick Henry.
Tight end was not a major need for the Ravens, but considering the two players lost ahead of free agency, DeCosta will have his work cut out for him to address the position immediately.
Thus far, the Ravens have been hit hard on the free agency front, losing Likely, Linderbaum, Jordan Stout, Dre'Mont Jones, Kolar, and Keaton Mitchell. The latter will not be tendered, making him a free agent.
