The Baltimore Ravens have a crucial offseason ahead of them. The team is coming off a dreadful 2025 season that was decimated by injuries to many of their top players.
One of the many injuries that the Ravens endured was to their All-Pro defensive tackle, Nnamdi Madubuike. Madubuike missed most of the season after suffering a season-ending neck injury in Week 2 of the 2025 season against the Cleveland Browns.
Madubuike only played in one full game before he was ruled out in 2025. With the 2025 season in the rear view mirror, the focus is now set for the 2026 season. The 28-year-old would play a vital role for the team as they look to become a juggernaut once again.
With the NFL Combine set to begin this week, members of the Ravens organization are meeting with the media — including new head coach Jesse Minter.
Minter spoke on a variety of topics, including the status of Madubuike. When asked about Madubuike, Minter didn't provide much detail on how much he's progressed.
The only thing Minter said was that Madubuike is in great spirits and that he was at the facility a few weeks ago. Former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided the same sentiment when asked about Madubuike and his status. Five months later, and Minter is not providing much information either.
General manager Eric DeCosta also declined to offer any new information. The best version of Madubuike could take the Ravens and their defense back to an elite level.
His last two healthy seasons were the best of his career. In that span, Madubuike recorded 99 combo tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 50 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, 19.5 sacks and one pass defended. Madubuike was also named a two-time Pro Bowler, earned a spot on the second-team All-Pro in 2023, and finished ninth in Defensive Player of the Year voting that same season.
The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the best players on the team, and certainly on the defensive side of the ball. Madubuike led the team in sacks with 13.5 in 2023. That elite season earned him a massive four-year, $98 million contract extension before the 2024 season.
Madubuike suffered the injury five months ago, but neck injuries can be tricky. While the Ravens won't say anything about their All-Pro DT, he has hinted at positive personal updates.
The Ravens selected Madubuike with the No. 71 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft in the third round out of Texas A&M.
