Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been downgraded to OUT for the Bengals game.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was attempting to play in Week 7 after missing the past two games due to a newly diagnosed high-ankle sprain.
Unfortunately for the team, that will no longer be the case. The Ravens have officially downgraded Jackson to out for the Cincinnati Bengals matchup.
Jackson spoke to the media on Friday to discuss potentially playing, and he stated that he was "heading in the right direction." That is no longer the case, and the team will instead allow the quarterback to heal up for another week.
The good news for the Ravens is that Jackson should be plenty healthy to take the field in Week 8.
With Jackson out again, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley will take over again. He has a 1-1 record through two games.
Huntley pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, which also included an overtime victory. That was not the case in Week 6, as the offense struggled to put points on the board against the now-first-place Cleveland Browns.
The Ravens are now set for their second divisional matchup and will be facing the Bengals. Another divisional loss might come back to haunt Baltimore down the line.
What Happened to Lamar Jackson?
Jackson suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 4 on the second-to-last play of the first half against the Tennessee Titans. The quarterback was tackled from behind, and the defender wrapped up Jackson's ankle.
The injury was not initially known, as Jackson walked off into the locker room with no issues. After halftime, Jackson was without his helmet, and Huntley was warming up on the sideline.
Huntley and the offense struggled as well, but the Ravens had been well ahead of the Titans. They still managed a win despite Huntley not being able to put points on the board.
Jackson will miss his third game in a row and will now have missed a total of seven games since the 2025 season.
There have been plenty of questions regarding his ability to stay healthy in 2025. At first, those concerns seemed invalid, but now they are a real issue for the quarterback.
Jackson will presumably be healthy and ready to go in Week 8.
If Huntley does not lead the team to a win, the Ravens will sit at 4-3. However, he might also lead the team to a 5-2 record with a win.
There is plenty of football left to play, and Jackson being healthy is far more important.
