Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson appears to be injured, and he is now sidelined in the second half.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson appears to have suffered an injury, and he is now on the sideline to begin the second half.
During the telecast, it was revealed that Jackson suffered an ankle injury during a hit in the end of the second quarter. With the Ravens quarterback now questionable, the team is turning to Tyler Huntley to take over.
Jackson was hit a couple of times over the last drive, and the final sack before the Tyler Loop 64-yard field goal may have been what led to the ankle injury.
Jackson is currently on the sideline with his uniform still on, so it could be that the Ravens want to give the quarterback a rest. For now, Huntley is out against the Titans.
Losing Jackson is certainly tough, as the offense has been solid thus far. At the time of this writing, the Ravens are leading 24-7, but that could not be the case if Huntley cannot move the ball in the manner that Jackson has been thus far.
The good news for Baltimore is Huntley has always been a sort of mirror of Jackson, and the backup has always been able to command the offense when the starter is out.
Jackson may be questionable to return, but he could also take the field with some rest. Then again, head coach Jesse Minter might also not want to risk the long-term health of his starter.
The Ravens being up 24-7 might also play a huge factor on whether or not Jackson returns to the field. If the Titans come back in a big way, it would like be the usual starter potentially coming back out to finish the game.
Baltimore's defense has been all over Cam Ward and the Titans offense, as the defense has forced two turnovers thus far in the game. The defense will now need to tighten up even more to ensure that Huntley does not have to do even more to ensure the team wins.
Jackson had appeared on the injury report earlier this week with a back injury, but Minter had stated that it was nothing to worry about. The quarterback was upgraded to a full participant in the final two injury reports, but this ankle injury is something new.
If Jackson cannot run or plant his feet, then the Ravens should not allow him to take the field again on Sunday. Even if he wants to play through his pain.
The only other injured Ravens player is cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who suffered a calf injury in the first quarter.
