Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has reported for the offseason workout program, setting an important example.
There were plenty of questions regarding whether or not Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson would arrive for the offseason workout program, which began on April 6. While there are a lot of veterans who do not engage in the voluntary activities, Jackson has reported.
Jackson not showing up to the start of the workout program would not have been a big deal, but the fact that he did show up sets an important example.
This is the first year under Jesse Minter, who took over as head coach after John Harbaugh was fired following the conclusion of the 2025 season. After 18 years of the same regime, the Ravens made a massive change in the coaching staff.
The 2025 season was an uncharacteristic struggle for Baltimore, as the team missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2021 season. Jackson suffered multiple injuries, including a hamstring ailment that led to multiple missed games.
The Ravens got to work to ensure injuries would not be an issue in 2025 by hiring former rugby strength and conditioning expert Dr. Nic Gill. Gill is set to be the vice president of performance and strength.
Jackson also showing up to showcase that his injuries are a thing of the past is important. He can set the tone for the offense and the entire team by being out at the voluntary training program.
The younger players who arrived through free agency, the players that were drafted in 2024, can all see that their leader is ready to get things going in the 2026 season.
Jackson also had a down season in 2025 after he was nominated for his third MVP in 2024, but lost out to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Jackson ended the season with 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also had 349 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He only played in 13 games.
With Minter set to lead the Ravens back into contention, having his quarterback buy into his leadership is important. The team will have a lot of work to do to ensurethey can get back to being one of the better squads in the AFC. That starts with everyone getting on the right page with one another.
