Baltimore Ravens tackle Ronnie Stanley has now exited the Saints game with a toe injury.
Baltimore Ravens tackle Ronnie Stanley has appeared to have aggravated the toe injury that he has been dealing with throughout this week.
Towards the end of the third quarter, Stanley was seen sitting on the bench with a towel over his head. Backup tackle Carson Vinson stepped in.
The telecast also revealed that Stanley is now questionable to return to the game with a toe injury.
Stanley initially appeared on the injury report on Wednesday and did not practice due to the toe injury. He also missed practice on Thursday and was labeled as questionable for the matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Despite the injury, Stanley was powering through it to ensure he could take the field. He started the game and nearly played through three quarters, but appears to be injured enough not to take the field again.
Since Stanley left the field, the Ravens have failed on a drive, as quarterback Lamar Jackson was sacked by the surging Saints defense.
Jackson has mostly been kept safe, apart from Chase Young getting in and rattling his cage quite a bit.
Stanley might also be able to take the field again if he can power through his toe injury, but that is also not a guarantee. With the veteran now out, the Saints' defense might be trying to attack the left side of the line a bit to get at the backup.
At the time of this writing, the game has mostly been in favor of the Ravens, as the defense has stopped most of what quarterback Tyler Shough and the offense have tried to get going.
The current score is 17-9, and the clock remains ticking away. Baltimore will need to ensure they stop Shough and the offense from tacking on more points, as they could lose the lead.
Losing Stanley might impact the Ravens' offense in a significant way, as quarterback Lamar Jackson loses some strong protection, and the run game might also not get as much of a chance for lanes with a loss on the left side of the line.
That said, the Ravens still remain in the lead are attempting to shut down the Saints to move to 2-0 on the season.
