Baltimore Ravens strength and conditioning coordinator offered a much more hopeful update on defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike.

There have been differing updates on whether or not Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike will return from his neck injury in 2026. Initially, reports indicated there was some promise of his return, but team president Sashi Brown and head coach Jesse Minter were cautious in revealing anything about Madubuike potentially returning.

Though a statement on his return has yet to be outright said, Ravens strength and conditioning coach Scott Elliott offered a far different update on Madubuike.

Madubuike has been showcasing himself in workouts this offseason, pointing to the idea that he could be ready for a return since suffering the season-ending neck injury in Week 2 of the 2025 season. Though workouts never guarantee a full return, the videos did offer some hope on that front.

Now, Elliott took to the podium and revealed a much more promising update.

Much like Brown and Minter, Elliott did not outright say that Madubuike is returning, but he revealed that he is in "great shape."

"I can't speak in terms of exact attendance, but I will tell you that Beeks is working his tail off. As I'm sure you have seen online, he is in great shape," Elliott said.

Elliott also admitted that there has been "constant" communication with Madubuike, even dating back to the full 2025 season when he was initially injured.

Elliott's demeanor is always one of smiling and being jovial, but he was grinning quite big when discussing Madubuike's progress. It was indicated that the defensive tackle has been around the building and working out, but the strength and conditioning coordinator was sure to also not reveal too much about what is really going on.

The Ravens are likely being very cautious due to the chance that Madubuike will not suit up in 2026. They cannot speak too early if they don't know quite yet if the All-Pro will be able to play.

Despite there not being a finite answer on Madubuike coming back, Elliott's update was far more hopeful than the others have been in recent weeks.

OTAs for the Ravens will officially start on May 18 and run through June 4 on select dates. Following that is the mandatory minicamp, which runs from June 8 to 11.

Training camp is also right after, so the Ravens could be waiting to see if Madubuike will be given more of a green light to announce his return before the prep for the 2026 season truly begins.

Madubuike has been a game-wrecker when healthy. Through six seasons, the last of which was only two games, he has secured 203 total tackles and 30 sacks.
