Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson is out for Week 4, after it was revealed that he has undergone surgery to repair his finger.
It was revealed earlier in the season that Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson had broken his finger in multiple places. Despite the injury, he has not yet missed a game.
Now, Hendrickson has been ruled out for Week 4, as Ravens head coach Jesse Minter confirmed that the defender has undergone a procedure to "fix the finger."
Even while wearing a cast, Hendrickson may have been in danger of damaging his finger further, hence the surgery. Minter also explained that it won't be a long-term layoff, but that the linebacker would be out for the Tennessee Titans matchup.
"Trey Hendrickson will be out this week. We were able to get the finger fixed. We think it will be very very short-term. But just in a quick way to get that fixed and get him back, I think that's gonna be best for us moving forward," Minter said.
Hendrickson may still have to wear a brace or cast on his hand once he returns, but Minter did state that he will be back sooner rather than later.
Considering the Ravens' defense has not quite gelled in the manner that it should just yet, losing Hendrickson will be a big hit. However, his missing only a week or two will also not cause much disturbance in the chemistry of things.
Baltimore plays the Titans on Sunday, who are a far less competitive team on paper. That does not mean they should be counted out, but this is a game that the Ravens should be aiming to win decisively.
After the last-second win against the Dallas Cowboys, the team might also have the confidence to move to 3-1 on the season come Sunday.
Minter Offers Update on Ronnie Stanley
Minter also spoke about left tackle Ronnie Stanley, who has been dealing with a toe injury that kept him out for Week 3. Considering the losses to both centers, Jovaugh Gwyn and Ethan Pocic, not having another starter will be tough for the line.
"I think he had a really good two days. I think he's in a good position, but we'll see how he's feeling. I do think he was able to get a good amount of work in," Minter said of Stanley.
Stanley was limited in the first two injury reports, and he could also be limited on Friday. If that is the case, he may not be able to play in Week 4.
Minter did state that they will see how he feels today and tomorrow, meaning Saturday, so it could be that Stanley will be more of a game-time decision. If he cannot play, it will be backup tackle Carson Vinson stepping in to take the left tackle spot again.
