Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman has exited the Cleveland Browns matchup with an apparent shoulder injury.
UPDATE:
Rashod Bateman has now been ruled out.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman has now exited the Cleveland Browns matchup with a shoulder injury. Per the team's official X page, the pass catcher is questionable.
It was not known what occurred that led to Bateman's injury, but he will not presumably be out for now.
At the time of this writing, the Ravens are heading into halftime, so that could be a chance for Bateman to potentially get some work done on his shoulder. There is no guarantee that he will return.
Currently, the Baltimore offense has been struggling to get any points on the board.
Quarterback Tyler Huntley was impressive in the team's first drive, as he threw a dart to a wide-open Josh Cuevas in the end zone. Cuevas secured his first touchdown as a member of the Ravens and in his pro career.
The Ravens would march downfield again, but the Browns defense forced a Tyler Loop field goal. Since then, both teams have traded punts in the second quarter.
Huntley has not been able to orchestrate much past the initial touchdown, but that has been due to the Browns' pass rush. They have been getting after the Baltimore signal caller plenty.
Huntley has had to evade that pressure a bit too much. The Ravens' defense has done the same thing to Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Baltimore is still leading 10-0 due to their first two offensive drives. The offense will need to make some adjustments so they do not ruin their lead.
With Bateman out, the Ravens will rely heavily on Zay Flowers, Devontez Walker, LaJohntay Walker, and rookie Ja'Kobi Lane.
Lane made his return to the lineup after being out for the last four weeks due to a fractured wrist and a procedure that was needed to correct the wrist injury. He missed Weeks 2 to 5, but is now back.
Lane picked up two solid first downs thus far, with 29 yards on three receptions. Flowers has also been heavily involved, with 32 yards on four receptions. Flowers also picked up one yard on one rushing carry.
Thus far, it has been a defensive back-and-forth for both teams since the first quarter. The Ravens need to start figuring out how to sustain drives and put points on the board.
They will have to do so without the help of Bateman, who might miss the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury.
Cleveland might be struggling now, but they can find their rhythm in the third quarter.
