The Baltimore Ravens no longer have Maxx Crosby on their roster. In a stunning development on Tuesday, Baltimore backed out of its trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders released a statement announcing the shocking news.
It was a move that shocked the football world. Crosby will now head back to Las Vegas with his long-term future with the team still uncertain.
As for the Ravens, they suddenly look like a completely different team. The assumption was that Baltimore had secured one of the best pass rushers in the game today. Instead, after the surprising turn of events, the Ravens are left shorthanded, with eight starters already departing for new teams during free agency.
It’s now unclear what direction Baltimore will take moving forward. Losing Crosby now leaves a major hole in the defense heading into the upcoming season and could significantly impact the team’s Super Bowl aspirations.
After the trade that took place on Friday, the Ravens' Super Bowl odds skyrocketed to the third-best odds to win the big game. However, that all changed moments after the rescinded trade.
The Ravens got as high as +900 according to DraftKings to win Super Bowl 61, but now they have fallen to as low as +1400. Things look bleak in Baltimore now, considering the rest of the offseason and their 2026 season.
Baltimore desperately needed to upgrade their pass rush, as their 2025 unit only collected 30 sacks. That mark ranked them 28th in the league and marking a historic low for the franchise. Now, they'll look to regroup and build on the fly, per se.
The team prioritized adding a premier edge rusher to prevent opposing quarterbacks from having too much time in the pocket. The Crosby trade ultimately didn't go through, and now the Ravens will likely turn their attention to the draft to address that need, especially after regaining the No. 14 overall pick.
The Ravens could go a multitude of ways with their 14th overall pick. They would love a high-impact type of player, but in terms of what position, that remains the question. Pass rush remains a big need, but so does a wide receiver. Baltimore could use a dynamic one, and this draft provides a ton of big names.
From pass catchers like Washington's Denzel Boston, USC's Makai Lemon, and Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, to name a few, the Ravens could have a ton of options at their disposal.
This season for Baltimore seems a bit murky as they are now left with a lot more questions than answers, leading up to the NFL Draft and beyond.
