It was announced on Friday that former New Orleans Saints edge rusher Payton Turner was signed by the Detroit Lions. The move ends a tenure that just could not flourish due to injuries. 

The former first round draft pick played in just 31 of the 68 games for the Saints, recording five sacks in that time. While Turner’s promise coming out of the 2021 NFL Draft was undeniable, it is unfortunate that it did not go the way anybody had hoped. It is clear that both sides will be looking for a fresh start.
