A must-win game for the Saints.

Before the season, the New Orleans Saints matchup against the New York Giants was a game that many circled for this season. Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough both had good rookie seasons, and both teams made improvements in the offseason that could set them up to make the playoffs. This was also the first time that Shough would be facing off against his fellow 2025 Draft QB, but instead, that’s not happening with Dart being injured, and the Saints have not met those expectations.

The Giants are currently 3-1-1 after one of the most confusing ends to a game when the Washington Commanders ran a play in field goal range during overtime that resulted in Jayden Daniels running and causing the clock to run out. That kick would have been a potential game-winner, but there’s a chance they still would have won.

Going into Week 6, the Giants are first in their division and are being led by Jameis Winston at QB. Obviously, a familiar face for Saints fans, Winston has had to be relied upon on offense and has made winning plays. Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely have been big weapons for Winston as well. The Giants' defense has been very blitz-heavy this season, and against the right teams, it can really work. You can see where I’m going with this.

Last week, against the Minnesota Vikings, the most blitz-heavy team in the NFL, completely destroyed the Saints’ chances of winning. The Saints somehow were not prepared for the blitz, could not change the plan to deal with it, and found little offensive consistency all game. With a lack of run game and offensive line struggles, Tyler Shough, who may have a broken hand, is being thrown to the wolves each game, and the Giants are going to take advantage of that. There’s a chance we see another game where the opponent blitzes about 90% of the time.

The good news is the Giants' run game has struggled as well, which means the Saints’ run defense may have their best game of the year, hopefully.

The pressure is on for New Orleans to win this game after owner Gayle Benson’s comments about how the team is doing, and although the Giants roster is very beatable, the last two weeks have shown us that the Saints may have a tough time no matter what.

For my final score prediction, I’m sadly picking the Giants to win 28-13.
