It's starting to make sense for the receiver to come to New Orleans.

Last week, a prediction was made by an analyst from PFN tying 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings to the New Orleans Saints as a free agent signing. It certainly makes sense given the receiver's desire to be paid, the 49ers likely looking for more speed at the position, and feeling burned by the Brandon Aiyuk contract.

Well, Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus has linked the two parties in his article titled "One 2026 free agent each team should target."

New Orleans Saints: WR Jauan Jennings

PFF Free Agent Rank: No. 25

The Saints’ surprisingly busy free agent period last offseason helped the team on an upward trajectory entering 2026. Although New Orleans currently boasts the seventh-lowest cap space, the team often gets creative — which could allow for the addition of a notable receiver.

Jennings registered a 68.7 PFF receiving grade last year, but that figure is a more representative 79.7 over the last three years — paired with an impressive 12.5 yards per reception. Also, Jennings thrives in the intermediate part of the field with a 91.2 receiving grade over the last three years, which aligns well with Tyler Shough’s highest-graded passing depth. New Orleans needs more firepower next to Chris Olave, and the 28-year-old Jennings is a worthwhile candidate.

As a red zone threat paired with Olave and someone in the draft or Devaughn Vele, who came on strong at the end of the season, Jennings is starting to make more sense. His run-blocking edge can't be understated as well. The receiver has a propensity for getting under opponents' skin.

While this is all offseason speculation from analysts connecting the dots with needs and possible fits, it is telling that two of them have targeted the same player.

Here was Matt Miller's initial scouting report of Jennings coming out of Tennessee:

STRENGTHS

—Physical, aggressive route-runner who plays like a small tight end at 6'3", 215 pounds.

—Good luck tackling him in space; Jennings is a Mack truck with the ball in his hands.

—Has decent moves post-catch and can make defenders miss.

—Super productive in the SEC, showing his tools can work against the best of the best.

—Tough to stop on crossing routes and intermediate throws; good at body positioning and shielding defenders from the ball.

WEAKNESSES

—Speed is a major question mark (4.72-second 40-yard dash) that shows up consistently on film.

—Lacks quickness in short areas or sudden movements.

—Likely limited to being a slot receiver in the NFL because of his lack of speed and inability to beat press coverage with speed.

—Had a few drops when he let the ball get into his body.

—Will be a 23-year-old rookie.

As far as scouting reports go, Miller nailed each point. Jennings will fit in with the attitude and role for New Orleans.
