As key starters Alvin Kamara and Cesar Ruiz battle lingering injuries, New Orleans faces a daunting depth test ahead of their historic international showdown against Pittsburgh’s defense.
The New Orleans Saints (2-4) enter Week 7 with momentum before they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in France. The game has major feel-good upside as New Orleans' team travels to the country from which many of its traditions derive.
After the first six games, it seems clear that the Saints can ill afford for much to go against them. That said, the injury report could be troublesome given what they may have to go without in the game.
The injury report lists several key players and difference makers. One analyst discussed what the team will have to prepare to be without in the big game against the Steelers.
Grant Chacere of New Orleans Saints on SI dropped his thoughts on the latest injury report. Here's some of what he had to say on the concerning updates to the injury list.
"The Saints' biggest offensive concerns involve (Alvin) Kamara and (Cesar) Ruiz, who have been dealing with back and knee injuries, respectively. Kamara was limited for the second consecutive practice Thursday, leaving his availability worth monitoring heading into Sunday's game.
The veteran running back remains an important part of Kellen Moore's offense, particularly as New Orleans attempts to establish a more consistent rushing attack.
Ruiz's situation is potentially more concerning. The veteran offensive lineman missed practice Wednesday and Thursday because of a knee injury, raising questions about his availability against Pittsburgh's defensive front. However, Jeremiah Wright played well in his absence during New Orleans’ win over the Giants last week.
Meanwhile, linebacker Kaden Elliss (calf) and edge rusher Anfernee Jennings (knee) were limited for the second consecutive day. During today's player roundtable, Elliss was asked if he would be available to play Sunday, and he said, 'Yes.'"

Mandatory Credit: Vincent Carchietta-Imagn ImagesKamara was still a respected player heading into the season, though some had noticed how injuries had diminished some of his effectiveness. That said, not everyone expected him to bring the volume of contribution he has the season. His involvement in the Saints offense makes the injury hurt all that more.
The Saints really cannot afford to be without much on defense where the team even struggled in Sunday's 34-27 win over the New York Giants. If Ellis is able to play, it would certainly be welcomed news.
New Orleans will have its hands full if it wants to exit Sunday's matchup with a win. The Saints will hope for a best-case scenario with injury health with the Steelers game around the corner.
