Owner Gayle Benson demands excellence as the reeling Saints enter MetLife Stadium. Despite their underdog status, internal tension and expert predictions suggest New Orleans could finally snap their skid.
The New Orleans Saints (1-4) get set to take on the New York Giants (3-1-1) on Sunday. The game gives the Saints an opportunity to take on what may end up a division winner in the NFC East.
The game presents a shot at a morale-boosting win and one that the Saints could build on to get out of their current rut. The Giants, however, do not intend to go down that easily.
ESPN NFL insider Katherine Terrell shared the latest on the Saints heading into the matchup. Here's some of what Terrell wrote alongside other ESPN experts.
There's frustration to go around after the Saints' third straight loss, and owner Gayle Benson made a rare public statement commenting on how the team's current record is not acceptable. QB Tyler Shough says he understands and shares her frustration. "She wasn't saying anything that wasn't already known, and she did a really good job of highlighting the expectations, and we have those same expectations for ourselves," he said. --
Fellow ESPN NFL insider Jordan Raanan gave intel on the Giants. Here's some of what Raanan had to say.
"The Giants are playing at home and became underdogs as the week progressed. That didn't seem to sit well with the team. 'We love playing at MetLife Stadium and being underdogs,' defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson said. 'Everybody counts us out.' The Giants are admittedly playing with a chip on their shoulders after RB Cam Skattebo said it was dumb for them to be underdogs in their previous home game against the Cardinals."

Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn ImagesThe analysis drew mixed results from the ESPN panel, but two of the three analysts who predicted the game took the Saints to win the game. In a noteworthy prediction, Seth Walder had the Saints winning the game 20-14.
If the Saints can hold an opponent to 14 points, it would be a huge win for the defensive unit. New Orleans held the Minnesota Vikings to 23 points in a 23-13 loss, and even that felt like an improvement. We'd like to see more improvement in Week 6.
Per ESPN, the Saints have a 53.9% chance to pull off the win with just a one-point advantage in simulations. Needless to say, the prediction certainly indicates two evenly matched teams.
We may not have reached true must-win territory, but we're getting close. Look for the Saints to bring their best effort in search of their second win of the season.
